Two years, as part of a full time, level three course. Equivalent to one A Level.(Formerly known as NA Business)


What you could do after this course

Typical careers could be in marketing and sales, human resource management, accountancy, or manufacturing. Alternatively, candidates might progress to a trainee management position in a variety of areas of business including retail sector, banking sector, legal profession, public or private sector, business.

The course is an excellent stepping stone to study business at a Higher National Diploma (HND) or degree level, when students often choose an area of business in which to specialise - for example: Media Management, Human Resource Management, Business Law, Accountancy.


Entry Requirements

  • School leavers will require five GCSE's at grade C or above to include English.
  • First Diploma at merit, plus one GCSE (grade C or above) or Key skills Level 2.
  • For mature applicants - Direct admissions to programmes for applicants who have been out of full time education for more than two years will be considered based on previous learning or experience. Each application will be considered on individual merit. We recommend an interview with one of our Careers Advisers before submitting your application.
  • All applicants will be required to bring confirmation of their GCSE results and any other qualification results to an enrolment event before the start of this course

Course overview

This course investigates the functional areas of business. It will provide you with a broad base of knowledge relating to different types of business on a local, national and global scale.

How you will learn

Practical activities are an important feature of the course and students will be encouraged to participate in visits to local industry and possibly overseas visits which incorporate the study of internationally run business and the study of business culture overseas (self financed).


How you will be assessed

Each module is assessed by projects, assignment work, and externally set projects. Practical elements are also assessed and graded on progression in practical skill development.
