AS / A Level Photography
AS / A Level Photography
Key facts
Full time or part time , over one to two years, level 3 course.
A Level study is primarily intended to provide entry to Higher Education. Subject choices are vital for many degree subjects so students should research university entry requirements if they have specific degree subjects in mind.
Course overview
The course is intended for those who wish to explore FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY. You will study and analyse the work of other fine art photographers and artists and use this to inspire and influence your own work. You will also learn about the theory of photography and will have many opportunities to put it all into practice on location, in the studio, darkroom and digital darkroom. Students will develop their imaginative and creative powers, analytical, documenting, research and writing skills.
Entry requirements
- Five higher tier GCSEs at Grade C or above to include English, Mathematics and/or Science dependant upon the subjects chosen. Additionally learners will normally be required to have a minimum GCSE grade B in the subject or related subject being studied at A level.
- GCSE English, at Grade C or above
- Art/Photography at B or above or photography portfolio.
- Federation learners will be admitted to individual subjects as normal after satisfying the entry requirements of their own school.
For mature applicants
- Direct admissions to programmes for applicants who have been out of full time education for more than two years will be considered based on previous learning or experience. Each application will be considered on individual merit. We recommend an interview with one of our Careers Advisers before submitting your application.
Photography A Level is NOT an easy option and demands a high level of commitment - you will need to be self-motivated as many assignments are worked on outside of lecture time, including research and written assignments, with 3/4 of the course content assessed by written work.
If you want to discover the thrill of expressing yourself through still images then this is the course for you.
