Students will produce an attractive portfolio of work, which could be used to help gain entrance to higher level courses e.g. National Diploma Interior Design.

Course Content
6 OCN units covering production of mood boards, colour wheels, decorative paint effects, stencilling, lighting etc, hand-made paper and batik.
Students will be requested to produce mood boards for a chosen project possibly a room in their house. They will collect colour samples, fabric samples, magazine images etc. to produce a co-ordinated mood board. Various paint effects will be experimented with e.g. woodgraining, crackle glaze etc. These can be applied to picture frames etc. As the course progresses the skills learnt by the student will be used to produce decorative items for the room e.g. cushions, framed handmade paper, all designed to co-ordinate with the colours on the mood board. Students will also examine different ways of lighting the room, showing use of general ambient and task lighting.

Essential Equipment
Sketch book, pencil, eraser etc. Students will be requested to buy paint colour pots (e.g. DIY store), possibly batik silk colour fabric pieces - as the course progresses.
