This course is suitable for Level 2 qualified electricians looking to enhance their current qualifications, or seeking to pursue a career in the electro-technical/building sectors.

Is this course right for me?
This four day course is intended for electrical operatives who are responsible for the inspection and testing of electrical equipment in the workplace, holiday parks etc. Commonly referred to as PAT testing (Portable Appliance Testing).
Learners will require the 5th Edition of the IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment to be brought with them on the first day.
- You will need to provide proof of your Level 2 Electrical Installation qualification
- Each application is considered on individual merit
The course will provide the learner with a full working knowledge of the latest edition of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) Code of Practice and will comprise a mix of theory and practical work.
Content to be covered includes:
- Hazards of electricity
- Classification of appliances
- Dangers associated with the use of various types of portable & fixed electrical appliances
- Understanding of the IET Code of Practice in relation to PAT Testing
- Statutory & Non-statutory requirements
- Equipment construction; inspection and testing theory
- Practical inspection and testing of equipment
- Completion of associated documentation
Learners have the option to complete course assessment/assignments or elements of the course through the medium of Welsh or bilingually. Visit our Welsh Language in the College page to find out what else is available to you.
