Level 2 Diploma NVQ in Business and Administration
The Advice and Guidance qualifications have been designed to provide the necessary skills for those working or wishing to work in this industry.
The qualifications provide the knowledge required to work with legislative and procedural frameworks, understanding and promoting careers education guidance within organisations and working with other services through negotiation, liaison and referral. These qualifications provide the necessary skills for those working or wishing to work in the Advice and Guidance sector.
The Level 4 Diploma supports those in a role which involves providing specialist advice and guidance to clients, reporting to senior management, networking with associated services as well as negotiating, training, evaluating and developing the service provision.
The OCR Level 2 Diploma is designed to reflect the work of administration staff across a wide range of industries and types of organisations and are for those who are working with some autonomy and personal responsibility. They are aimed at candidates who work as part of a team and ensure the provision of information and resources to others.
This qualification is a competence based qualification aimed at people who wish to specialise in business and administration functions in a supporting role.
Learners can choose from a large bank of optional units, allowing them to show understanding and skills in a variety of areas, including human resources, document production, finance and managing information.
To achieve a Level 2 Diploma in Business and Administration, you must complete a minimum of 37 credits, of which 24 credits must be selected from units at level 2.

Like all NVQs, these qualifications are competence based. This means that they are linked to a person’s ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work. These qualifications are internally assessed and internally verified by Pembrokeshire College and externally verified by OCR Assessors. Assessment: Monthly visit from your assessor to your place of work – for observation, discussion, look at work related products to build a Portfolio of Evidence
The Skills for Industry project offers subsidised accredited training and qualifications from Level 1 to Level 5 in the eligible occupations*
Beneficiary companies are enterprises from south west Wales, including:
- Private sector companies
- Registered self-employed
- Third sector organisations (provided they are properly constituted charities)
- Public sector organisations

All post 16 learners who undertake this course (Welsh Government funded provision over 40 hours) are required to undertake the WEST (Wales Essential Skill Toolkit) Full Diagnostic Initial Assessment for Communication, Application of Number and Digital Literacy within the first four weeks of their course.
