Is this course right for me?
This eight week course is designed for those who have attended the Sewing Skills: Introduction class OR has some sewing experience, but wants to gain more with guidance and support from an experienced tutor.
You will build on the knowledge you have already been taught within a supportive and friendly group of like-minded individuals. You will need to be competent in using your sewing machine and be able to demonstrate good general sewing ability. This will be improved and worked through by making samples during the class.
You will then be able to apply these techniques outside of the classroom to make up a garment of your choice.
This course is non-accredited so you will not be assessed. It is for personal development and fun!
This eight-week course runs on a Thursday, 18:00 – 20:00, Pembrokeshire College Main Campus.
- No formal entry requirements
- The learner must be over the age of 18
Following on from the introduction to sewing skills class, you will pick up on skills such as zips, button holes and sewing techniques, enabling you to have the confidence to produce projects of your own.
- Basic stitches
- Threads, needles, grainline, interfacing
- Hems
- Sewing curves & corners
- Bias binding and rouleau loops
- Elastics
- Pleats, pintucks and gathering
- Zips
- Waistbands/cuffs
- Selecting sewing patterns and fabric
- Understanding sewing pattern layouts and instructions
You will receive a College completion certificate at the end of the course.
Learners have the option to complete course assessment/assignments or elements of the course through the medium of Welsh or bilingually. Visit our Welsh Language in the College page to find out what else is available to you.
