This truly relaxing therapy is achieved by using specific types of stones at different temperature to massage and place on and under the body. By alternating temperatures using the stones brings a chemical response within all systems of the body and increases the effects of massage to the body and face.
The qualification requires the candidate to provide evidence of competence in the form of theoretical and practical assessments. Candidates must complete two practical assessments covering a range of statements. They must demonstrate sufficient knowledge and provide the treatments safely, effectively and consistently.
All candidates must hold a recognised Level 3 qualification in body massage.

Students can progress onto employment in health spas, clinics and salons, complementary therapy private practice or self-employment, and the health and fitness industry. Progression is possible to other areas of complementary therapies at Foundation Degree/HNC level.
