The Academy Restaurant

The Academy Restaurant

There aren't many places where you can eat a four-course, freshly prepared lunch in style for £9.50.

The Academy Restaurant is run by College staff and catering students and operates during term-time only. The atmosphere is relaxed and semi-formal similar to a good catering establishment..

The restaurant has a loyal following who support students through the process of training to a professional level. In recent years, several students have progressed to work in five-star hotels and restaurants with Michelin stars. Staff, and to a lesser extent, students use the restaurant to celebrate birthdays and to entertain guests.

Because it's a training restaurant where students are taught how to serve food properly, you do need to allow about one and half hours to consume all of the courses at a leisurely pace. Tell the waiting staff if you're in a hurry and they'll do their best to quicken the pace.

The food that is produced in the restaurant is carefully prepared by the students with one of the chefs supervising. Fresh foods are used wherever possible and a different menu is produced each day. These menus recur in a five week cycle.

The service style varies between traditional, buffet, carvery or preparation and cooking at the table.
