Pembrokeshire College Learning Centre provides a mixture of traditional library services and an increasing number of electronic resources, along with IT equipment and study space. Staff are always on hand to answer any queries you may have. The Advice Guidance and Welfare Centre and Learning Support teams are based within the Learning Resources Centre.
Library Resources
The online Library Catalogue, gives details of books, journals and newspapers available within the Learning Centre. Multimedia resources (DVDs, videos and CD-ROMs) are also held in the LRC, and students are welcome to use these on the equipment provided. An extensive Careers Collection is housed in the Centre, as well as current Open University course materials. An inter-library loans scheme is in place, and the College is a member of PACT, a collaborative arrangement allowing students to borrow books from other libraries in South West Wales.
Electronic books, journals and other information resources ensure that students and staff can easily access information online, at all times of day, even if working from home. Infotrac, KnowUK and Britannica Online are just some of the resources available via our Intranet site. Higher Education students can use an even wider range of specialist electronic resources, through online links with the University of Glamorgan.
Study Facilities
A range of study spaces are available, with group areas at the front of the learning centre, and quiet study space, individual silent study rooms, and a dedicated area for HE students at the back. Fixed computers are supplemented by wireless laptops which students can borrow to use anywhere in the LRC. All computers are internet enabled, and attached to colour and black and white printers. Scanning and photocopying facilities are also available.
Members of the public are welcome to use the Learning Centre as a reference library and to use the computers for a nominal fee.
