What you could do after this course
A higher education qualification that can be the first step in working towards a HND or Degree in this area of study. It can also lead to work in veterinary nursing practice, managing wildlife, animal park, zoo work, welfare organisations and other animal based organisations and kennel work. A HNC or HND provides a step towards supervisory or management roles within many of these areas.
Entry Requirements
- 40 UCAS points (from main programme) at AS Level/Vocational A Level (GCE), National Diploma, Access to HE or relevant training and experience equivalent to NVQ Level 3.
- For mature applicants - Direct admissions to programmes for applicants who have been out of full time education for more than two years will be considered based on previous learning or experience. Each application will be considered on individual merit. We recommend an interview with one of our Careers Advisers before submitting your application.
What you will learn
The course is delivered at Pembrokeshire College in association with the University of Glamorgan and is intended to offer a higher level qualification to those satisfying the entry requirements.

- Biological concepts
- Wildlife Observation
- Marine studies
- Anatomy and physiology
- Veterinary nursing
- Animal nursing and health care
- Behaviour
How you will be assessed
The assessment of the programme will be through a mixture of written, presentational and exam based evidence.
Essential Equipment
Overalls, waterproof clothing and an up-to-date tetanus vaccination.
