Entry Requirements

  • 80 UCAS points (60 points from main programme) at A/AS level/Vocational A Level, National Diploma, Access to HE qualification
  • GCSE English and Mathematics at grade C or above are preferred
  • Relevant training and experience equivalent to NVQ Level 3
  • For mature applicants - Direct admissions to programmes for applicants who have been out of full time education for more than two years will be considered based on previous learning or experience. Each application will be considered on individual merit. We recommend an interview with one of our Careers Advisers before submitting your application.
  • Entry is normally subject to interview.

Course Content

The HNC in Power Systems Engineering is a two-year programme franchised from the University of Glamorgan and delivered at Pembrokeshire College. The course consists of 10 modules over two years. The modules that you will study include:

  • Design of Electrical Services
  • Power and Machines
  • Mathematics
  • Electrical Principles and Simulations
  • Programming and Embedded Systems
  • Project

Course Assessment

You will be assessed using a variety of methods. In the main, these will be written assignments based on a practical activity, case studies and/or formal tests. Some modules contain a mixture of the above, others are 100% coursework assessed.

The aim of the course is to produce Engineers who are capable of making an immediate contribution in the workplace and are able to take supervisory responsibility in the plant and process industries.
