NVQ Level 2 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development (CCLD)
This is the first step on your career path. You will be working under supervision in face - to - face roles. You can use it to work as:
- A nursery assistant
- A creche worker – e.g. in a gym or a large retail store
- A special needs assistant

This award can be gained without you needing to attend classes, sit exams or take written tests. However we do provide workshops which enable you to gain underpinning knowledge and the opportunity to meet others in a relaxed learning environment.

Course Content
- To achieve NVQ Level 2 you will have to complete 7 units- 6 mandatory units
- CCLD 201 Contribute to positive relationships
- CCLD 202 Help to keep children safe
- CCLD 203 Support children’s development
- CCLD 204 Use support to develop own practice in children’s care, learning and development
- CCLD 205 Prepare and maintain environments to meet children’s needs
- CCLD 206 Support children’s play and learning and 1 option unit.
Course Assessment
Candidates will be provided with workplace assessment and support. Workplace candidates have student status at the college to access a variety of learning resources.
Entry Requirements
No pre-entry requirements other than that the candidate is employed in a childcare/education setting or has access to workplace experience e.g. through voluntary work.

Costs
As of 1st June 2009 all learners enrolled on Childcare NVQs will be expected to pay for their NVQ Standards. This will cost £10-£12.50.
