Course overview

This course is particularly relevant to the increase in demand for people who work with children to have higher level qualifications. The Foundation Phase in Welsh schools has created a awareness of the importance of the discipline of Childhood Studies. Suitable for those wishing to work or already working in a role in childcare, education and health settings.


Entry requirements

  • All applicants must also be engaged in working with children, either voluntary or paid employment
  • Foundation Degree in Childhood Studies or
  • 240 Credits in a related subject area
  • Entry is subject to interview
  • For mature applicants - Direct admissions to programmes for applicants who have been out of full time education for more than two years will be considered based on previous learning or experience. Each application will be considered on individual merit. We recommend an interview with one of our Careers Advisers before submitting your application.

A flexible part time programme which allows students to gain a Degree appropriate to the needs of a variety of settings. The qualification equips students with the knowledge and skills required for success in future or current employment.

  • The learning child (20 credits level 3)
  • The child and contemporary society (20 credits level 3)

Year 2
