This course equates to a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in the new Qualification Framework.
Course overview
This course is ideal for anyone wishing to pursue a career (usually after completion of a degree) in health and/or social care, including nursing, social work, child welfare, probation work, teaching etc.
Entry requirements
- Five GCSE’s at Grade C or above, to include English
- GNVQ Intermediate qualification
- First Diploma at merit, plus one GCSE (grade C or above) or Key skills Level 2
- For mature applicants - Direct admissions to programmes for applicants who have been out of full time education for more than two years will be considered based on previous learning or experience. Each application will be considered on individual merit. We recommend an interview with one of our Careers Advisers before submitting your application.
- All applicants will be required to bring confirmation of their GCSE results and any other qualification results to an enrolment event before the start of this course
- Entry is normally subject to interview

The National Diploma course consists of 18 units
- 12 units = National Certificate- 2 A levels

- Additional qualifications which will be achieved include: First aid, moving and handling and basic food hygiene
Expect also to
- Attend work placement for two weeks in year one and two weeks in year two, 100 hours in total

All assessments take the form of continuous assessment through written assignments, case studies, experimental work, oral presentation and other varied methods
