Course information
The course is designed to give students the opportunity to extend their expertise in professional practice in relation to their specific work setting/client group. The course examines and progresses the student's academic and practical base of care and has been flexibly designed to accommodate students from a wide variety of practice backgrounds enabling practitioners to function more effectively in a multi-professional setting within the evolving context of health and health care provision. Part 1 gives BSc Professional Practice, additions of Part 2 will provide BSc (Hons) Professional Practice.

Entry requirements
- Applicants must be entered on the professional register of the Nurses and Midwives Council (NMC)
- Applicants must have undergone a period of consolidation of learning of not less than 12 months following registration
- Applicants must be employed in a situation appropriate to the development of their chosen area of professional practice and demonstrate a credit rating of 120 credits at level one (certificate) and 120 credits at Level 2 (diploma).
- Alternatively, entry via the Assessment of Prior Experimental Learning (APEL) can be used subject to individual negotiations
- Entry is subject to interview
Course overview
A flexible part time programme which allows students to gain credits appropriate to the needs of their specific professional area. This is designed to consolidate application of advanced theory to practice and encourage an analytical and reflective approach to Nursing and Midwifery.

- Research in professional practice (20 CAT points)

How you will be assessed
Part 1 - Currently each module is assessed via one written assignment that focuses on the student area of professional practice and the module theme. Students are required to achieve the Clinical Learning Outcomes in their practice workplace.
Part 2 - 12,000 word dissertation
