Course overview

This is a flexible programme to facilitate qualified nurses to achieve a Diploma in Professional Practice. Progression onto Degree programmes is an option for those nurses keen to progress further, subject to admissions criteria.

Achieving this Diploma provides the platform for level three (degree) study and may enhance employment opportunities.


Entry requirements

  • Applicants must be entered on the professional register of the Nurses and Midwives Council (NMC)
  • Applicants must be employed with a minimum of 10 hours a week
  • All entry is subject to an interview

What you will learn

Modules covered are:

  • Using Research at Work (40 CAT points)
  • Learning, Mentoring and Assessing (40 CAT points)
  • Open flexible modules, which can include Management, Care of the Elderly Person and Pain Management (40 CAT points)

How you will be assessed

  • Written assignment (4000 words)
  • Completion of clinical outcomes

Additional Qualifications

These modules form part of the Diploma, which requires 120 CAT points at level 2. Accreditation of prior learning for previous modules may be possible, providing they meet University of Glamorgan requirements

£450 for 40 CAT point modules, valid until 31 July 2009
