WJEC A-level Economics
A-level Economics will provide you with a coherent combination of microeconomic and macroeconomic content that will help you to develop an understanding of economic concepts and theories through a critical consideration of current economic issues and institutions that affect everyday life.
Is this course right for me?
You will need an enquiring, critical and thoughtful approach to the study of economics as you will develop an ability to think as an economist. You will learn to understand that economic behaviour can be studied from a range of perspectives as well as developing analytical and quantitative skills.
Throughout the course you will be encouraged to appreciate the contribution of economics to the understanding of the wider economic and social environment and to develop an understanding of a range of concepts and an ability to use those concepts in a variety of different contexts.
- Five GCSEs at grade C or above (may include one relevant equivalent) to include English Language/First Language Welsh and Mathematics/Numeracy
- English Language/Literature/First Language Welsh grade B and Maths/Numeracy grade B

- Each application is considered on individual merit
- Entry is subject to attending a course information session or informal interview
- Successful completion of relevant programme (including skills) and decision from progression board meeting
You will have the opportunity to apply economic concepts and theories using a wide range of contexts and to appreciate their value and limitations in explaining real world phenomena. You will develop an appreciation of the complex and interrelated nature of economics along with analytical and quantitative skills in selecting, interpreting and using appropriate data from a range of sources.
