Are you fascinated by the human brain? Do you want to study the intricacies of human behaviour and gain knowledge about cognitive and developmental psychology?

Throughout this course you will learn about a number of issues related to the mind, including behavioural patterns, mental health disorders and therapies based on the different assumptions about human behaviour.
- Five GCSEs at grade C or above (may include one relevant equivalent) to include English Language/First Language Welsh and Mathematics/Numeracy
- English Language/Literature/First Language Welsh grade B and Maths/Numeracy grade B

- Entry is subject to attending a course information session or informal interview
- Successful completion of relevant programme (including skills) and decision from progression board meeting
You will study scientific methods and renowned theories to help source answers and underpin the fundamentals of this subject. During your time on this course you will grow academically and develop transferable skills, which can be used to evaluate, provide relevant evidence and help you delve into the study of human development.
Units to be studied include:
- Approaches in Psychology – biological, psychodynamic, cognitive, behaviourist and positive
- Research methods – principles of research and contemporary debates
- Implications in the real world – addictive behaviour, criminal behaviour, schizophrenia and controversies
- Applied research methods – personal investigations
Learners also complete the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales and are required to develop their essential skills (communication/numeracy and digital skills). Learners will also attend a weekly group tutorial.
