Course Information

This is a certificated course delivered by Pembrokeshire College who is accredited by The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). The course has been developed to address the Health and Safety training needs of the non expert.


This course aims to train employers/employees to ensure that their actions contribute to Health and Safety in the workplace and that individual responsibilities are clearly understood.


The syllabus concentrates on:-

  • Defining safe working, identifying hazards and risks, selecting or seeking advice on workplace precautions and assisting managers to prepare risk assessments.
  • Workplace precautions for sources of hazards: fire, manual handling, electricity, display screen equipment, chemicals and substances, work equipment, movement of people, poor housekeeping and noise.
  • Improving the organisation’s safety performance, including relevant accidents and incidents, monitoring work activities, commenting on health and safety policy, complying with requirements for control in safety management, co-operating with managers in safety activities, communicating on safety matters and identifying competencies required for safe working.

Fees

The cost of this course is £100 per delegate but if your company is classed as a ‘Small to Medium Enterprise’ (SME) then you may be eligible for ESF funding bringing the cost down to as little as £20 per delegate.


Progression

Candidates who successfully achieve this course can progress onto the IOSH Managing Safely Programme. This is a four day course which is also offered by Pembrokeshire College.
