Another superb performance by the College…
Pembrokeshire College has sustained its A-level results with a staggering 99% pass rate with 20 out of 21 courses at 100% pass rate. Students continued to achieve excellent grades across a wide rage of subjects, A – C 68% and A – A* 19%.
The College’s Assistant Principal Dr Barry Walters said: “To maintain a similar performance to last year’s excellent results is very pleasing and confirms to us the quality of our A-level provision and the commitment of our students and staff.
“Pembrokeshire College has a combination of committed staff; excellent resources; a strong emphasis on student support and an interesting range of subjects on offer to provide our A level students with first class opportunities.”
Richard, originally from Holland, has had a very successful year at the College, achieving As in Biology, Geography, Chemistry and a B in Physics. Richard achieved his Geography A-level through home-study and additional support from college tutor, Steve Quinton. Richard will be studying Liberal Arts and Sustainability at the Hague University in the Netherlands. “The College has been very accessible, and it has provided me with a very mature learning environment.” Said Richard.
Lucy, previously of Pembroke school, is a College STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) bursary student. Lucy has achieved amazing results – three A grades in Physics, Mathematics, Biology and an A* Chemistry. Lucy and has been made an offer by Bath University to study Natural Sciences.
Lauren, also a former Pembroke School pupil, achieved three A grades at A-level in Psychology, English Literature and Law and will be going to Cardiff University to study Law in September. “I have loved studying at the College, the teaching is fantastic, I am going to miss it.” Said Lauren.
Pembrokeshire College students will be progressing on to a broad range of courses at universities across the UK. Popular subjects this year include Physics, Environmental Studies, Psychology and Mathematics.
