- Posted by: pembscollegesuperadmin
This year has seen outstanding results for students studying their A-levels at Pembrokeshire College with 23 out of 25 subjects achieving a 100% pass rate and a record 33% of students achieving A* or A grades. After achieving three A* and an A grade, high-flying student James Taylor is off to Oxford University to read Chemical Engineering. And Olivia Collens achieved two A* and two A grades, will now be travelling to the USA where she has secured a place at Middlebury University to study Biochemistry through the Sutton Trust US university programme. International students contributed greatly to this year’s results with Yejiao Zhang achieving two As and one A* and is now studying at the University College London (UCL).
The College also saw BTEC National Diploma students excelling with Kyle Kerslake achieving D*D*D* in the Extended Diploma in IT (equivalent to three A* at A-level) along with a B grade in AS-level Computer Science. Kyle will now go on to read Computer Science at Bath University. Fellow diploma student Stephen Thomas achieved D*D*D* in Operations Maintenance Engineering, while classmate Bryce Davey achieved D*D*D and will now go on to read Sustainable Engineering at Lancaster University, proving that Extended Diplomas can be a real alternative to A-levels for students looking to progress to university. After receiving this year’s A-level results for the College, Deputy Principal Dr Barry Walters said: These outcomes also demonstrate the College’s strengths in the delivery of both academic and vocational programmes.”
