Earlier this week Baroness Randerson visited Pembrokeshire College as part a tour of west Wales exploring energy, education and women entrepreneurs.
During her visit to the College Baroness Randerson heard about the proposals to transform education in Pembrokeshire and the College’s commitment to delivering apprenticeships before meeting with apprentices and students from the UAE who are currently studying on engineering programmes at the College.
Before leaving, Baroness Randerson also had a tour of the College’s state of the art engineering wing along with its virtual control room; specifically designed to train the engineers of the future.
Baroness Randerson commented: “Innovative educational offers such as this with its cutting-edge technology put Wales in a great position to compete with colleges across the world and I was delighted to meet some of the international students the College has attracted to study here. I was also particularly impressed with the links the College has developed with local industry, which I saw first-hand during my visit to Valero.
“I am particularly keen to see more young women choosing careers in engineering and technology subjects and studying Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. This kind of innovation will attract them to study here and, in turn, boost the area’s economy.”
As part of her visit to Pembrokeshire, Baroness Randerson also visited Murco and oil giant Valero to see how vital energy and engineering are to the Pembrokeshire economy.
