Calling all men

Your help is needed to set up Men’s Sheds in Pembrokeshire.
The Men’s Sheds movement began in Australia where there are now over 1,000 sheds in operation. After a slow start, the UK has latched onto the value of men’s sheds in giving men a space in which in to socialise and pursue practical interests or just potter.
A Men’s Shed is a larger version of the typical man’s shed in the garden – a place where he can relax and pursue practical interests with the added benefit of more men and more tools! Men’s sheds are specifically designed with the man in mind and are aimed at anyone over the age of 18.
Pembrokeshire College is keen to help the men of Pembrokeshire set up Men’s Sheds across the county and is holding an event on Tuesday 1 April at 5pm where men (and women) can come along and find out more about the concept and how they can go about setting up sheds in Pembrokeshire. This is your chance to be part of creating a space where like-minded men can come together to work and socialise.
Geoff Elliott, Director of Business Development and Community Services at Pembrokeshire College commented: “To really get the sheds up and running we need as many people as possible to come together and pool ideas and resources. There are currently only 60 sheds across the whole of the UK but they are already bringing significant benefits not only to the lives of the people who use them but also to their surrounding communities. It would be great if Pembrokeshire was at the forefront of this movement in Wales.”
To find out more about how men’s sheds operate go to: www.menssheds.org.uk or come along to the College on Tuesday 1 April at 5pm.
It’s time get Men’s Sheds up and running in Pembrokeshire!
