The Employment Bureau team at Pembrokeshire College held a Christmas Jobs Fair on Thursday 11th October. The event gave learners the chance to talk with employers about part time vacancies, seasonal opportunities and future career options. Employers who attended included Folly Farm, St Brides Spa Hotel, Diverse Cymru, The Grove in Narberth, Coast Restaurant, Wetherspoon and Tesco.
The Employment Bureau, a learner employability service, is a part-funded Welsh Government service to help learners to find either part time work to coincide with their courses or full time work once their studies have finished. During the event, the Employment Bureau helped learners to identify which jobs they may be interested in and supported them in completing application forms and compiling good quality CVs in preparation for meeting with organisations.
One learner stated, ‘The help provided was excellent, especially with improving my CV’, another learner said, ‘Really helpful, staff were kind’ and another commented, ‘This has shown the student the various opportunities which may be available’.
Jennifer Dyer, Employability Consultant for the Employment Bureau, said, ‘The event went well today and we will carry on providing these fantastic opportunities and continue to bridge gaps between learners and employers’.
