College invited to present at Alt-C conference
Pembrokeshire College is leading the way in the use of mobile technology to engage with learners and small businesses across Pembrokeshire.
Following the success of the mCommunity project, Pembrokeshire College submitted a paper to the annual Alt Conference and was invited to present at the UK’s main conference for learning technologists. The 3-day conference, titled ‘A confrontation with reality’, was held in Manchester and provided a valuable forum for practitioners, researchers, managers and policy-makers to solve problems, explore, influence, reflect and learn.
The mCommunity project provides a positive environment for small businesses to undertake business development and engages NEETs increasing their confidence and motivation as well as their employability.
The work of the mCommunity team has also been recognised by the TES FE Awards 2012 where the team have been shortlisted in the Outstanding e-Learning Team category. Within the same awards the College has also been shortlisted for Outstanding HR Department.
Open to Colleges across the UK, being shortlisted in two categories is an excellent achievement and showcases the exceptional work that is being undertaken at Pembrokeshire College. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at Birmingham NEC, on Thursday 15 November 2012.
