First aiders are an integral part of workplace safety. The objective of this qualification is to support learners in becoming emergency first aiders in the workplace.

Is this course right for me?
Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) training enables a first-aider to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill while at work. This training is designed for low-risk workplaces.
The course covers knowledge such as the roles and responsibilities of the first aider and how to assess an incident. The course also covers first aid skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), providing first aid to a casualty who is choking and dealing with external bleeding and hypovolaemic shock.
Group Rate courses are delivered at your venue on an agreed date for a fixed price. You can have a maximum of 12 staff per course and a minimum of two staff. The venue must be of a suitable size to deliver First Aid courses and public liability insurance must be in place.

By the end of the course learners will be able to:
- Understand the role of the first aider, including reference to the use of first aid equipment provided or improvised and the need to record accurately incidents and actions
- Recognise the importance of basic hygiene in first aid procedures
- Assess situations and conditions in order to react safely, swiftly and effectively in an emergency
- Demonstrate the ability to administer first aid safely, swiftly and effectively to a person who is unconscious
- Demonstrate the ability to administer CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) safely, swiftly and effectively
- Display the skill necessary to administer first aid safely, swiftly and effectively to a person who has sustained a wound
- Display the skill necessary to identify a person who is in shock and react safely, swiftly and effectively to treat the condition
- Administer first aid safely, swiftly and effectively to a person who is choking
- Provide first aid safely, swiftly and effectively for minor injuries
