Pembrokeshire College Graphic Design and Interactive Media Diploma students swept the board at this year’s Ipos MORI Learner Voice competition. Second year design student William Rowe won the portfolio boosting competition, while fellow students Jamie Harries, Theo Payne, Jamie Gray, Caitlin Flood and Jazz Hughes were all shortlisted for their poster designs. William from Haverfordwest, created an eye-catching poster, which will be used nationally to promote the Learner Voice Wales Survey 2013.
The winning concept will be used in a national campaign to encourage learners in post-16 education and training in Wales to take part in the Learner Voice Wales survey.
The design students turned around the brief effectively and were praised by College lecturers for their professionalism and fast response. “ The students adopted an ‘In it to win it’ attitude and that’s exactly what happened. We are all very proud of their focus and creative achievement” said Curriculum Team Leader, Cath Brooks.
Mori, who are renowned worldwide for their market research, have invited William to their head offices in London for a VIP presentation, where he will receive his cash prize of £100. A delighted Williams said “ I have also been given the opportunity to work alongside a graphic design agency to develop my ideas further, it will then be used as part of a national marketing campaign,” enthused William.
William’s poster will be on display in over 60 institutions, work-based learning providers, local authorities and Welsh for Adult centres.
