The College was full of St David’s Day hwyl today (March 1st) as student groups offered interesting and fun activities in the College atrium and the College community wore red and green with pride.
Janice Morgan, Welsh Language Development Officer said:
“We have had such a lovely day today with a really warm Welsh atmosphere and lots of fun and festivities – lots of ideas that came from students wishing to help keep the spirit of St David’s Day alive and relevant to today’s learners.”
Bridging students ran a treasure hunt and Name the Easter Bunny competition; childcare and tourism students ran Name the Welsh Celebrity; Name the Welsh Attraction; a word search on facts about Wales and Ble Mae trwyn Sali Mali?
Still buoyant from the Welsh team’s triple crown victory recently, there was also a stall inviting participants to make Six Nations Rugby Predictions; name the Welsh rugby star (from pixelated photos) and a quiz about Wales.
Beauty students ran a stall providing nail polishing and varnishing with bold red very much being the colour of the day.
Catering students baked fresh Welsh Cakes on a hot stone and even the creche had a stall – with our sweetest and cutest members of the College decorating and colouring Welsh emblems for sale.
Art and Design students instilled some high culture with a fabulous display of still life daffodils painted during the day (see photo). They also made a Bardic chair out of recycled materials.
