Pembrokeshire College student, Kelsey Race has become an official volunteer for the charity Wales Air Ambulance, with the aim of raising £5,000, she recently organised a concert at Sir Thomas Picton School, headlined by last year’s X Factor contestant John Adams.
Kelsey, began fundraising for charity at a young age, spurred on by her brother Callum’s ordeal. She said: “When Callum was two, his chest and arm were burned when a kettle fell on him. Wales Air Ambulance took him to Morriston Hospital, and saved his life. If it wasn’t for them, he would have died from shock.”
The A-level student, who hopes to become a paediatrician, started helping out with the disabled unit at Fenton Primary School when she was 12.
And now, on top of her school commitments, Kelsey finds time to volunteer with Paul Sartori, Pembrokeshire People First, and as a St John Ambulance cadet.
