MaDD around Pembrokeshire
- Posted by: pembscollegesuperadmin
Make a Difference Day (MaDD) has recently been introduced by Pembrokeshire College to encourage staff to strengthen local community links and participate in team building. A dedicated day of activities were planned, most of which were charitable, environmentally friendly and fun. Human Resources Director Kathryn Robinson said, “There was a fantastic response to this initiative, around 200 staff took part and volunteered for a wide range of projects to support worthwhile causes including sponsored walks, beach cleans, garden make-overs, woodland management and painting and decorating.”
The College is already planning for next year and hope to help even more people in the community. “This day was a great success and demonstrates how much the College values community participation in support of our commitment to the environment, sustainable development and global citizenship by giving all our staff the opportunity to participate”, continued Kathryn.
Member of staff Fiona Gray found the whole experience rewarding and very worthwhile “I volunteered my technical assistance to the Stroke Association support group in Pembroke Dock. The group had Apple iPad's donated to them by Dragon LNG and I demonstrated how use the applications and improve general maintenance”, said Fiona.
It’s not often you are given work time to help the wider community out, MADD was not such a mad idea after all!
