A former Pembrokeshire College beauty student has been named as the UK’s best Make-up Blogger/Vlogger as the winners of the 3rd Official Make-up Awards 2020 are revealed.
Nineteen-year-old Kirsten James studied at Ysgol Bro Gwaun before qualifying in Beauty Therapy at the College. Now working at Pure Beauty in Fishguard, Kirsten was nominated for the looks she creates on her Facebook page: Kirsten James MUA.
Salon owner, and Kirsten’s mentor, Maria Nicholas commented: “She has done really really well, I am immensely proud of her. I saw from the beginning that she had a passion for make-up and I have encouraged her to go with it. It’s her strength.”
The winners are chosen by members of the British public and are a true reflection of the talent, creativity and impeccable customer service that flow within the profession; three key features that enhance the reputation of the UK’s make-up industry internationally.
Also a finalist in the Welsh Freelance Make-up Artist category Kirsten commented: “I didn’t really expect to win. I was jumping up and down for joy. I am a qualified beauty therapist but make-up is my passion, it’s my favourite thing. I have been really artistic and creative all my life and went down the make-up route.”
A spokesperson for the Official Make-up Awards, said: “The make-up industry plays a vital role in the British economy by employing thousands of
staff and it is time to show our appreciation to those who have dedicated their career to making people feel beautiful.
“The Official Make-Up Awards provide a platform to reward those who stand out amongst the rest with their commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. “We would like to congratulate all finalists and winners for their achievements!”
With the Official Make-up Awards ceremony postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, it is hoped that it will now be held in Manchester later this year.
