A-level student Megan James recently impressed the judges at the Welsh Guides Centre in Newtown as one of just ten girl guides selected to represent Wales at the International Guides Conference in Iceland.
With the competition taking place over the course of a weekend tasks included team building, first aid and orienteering exercises.
Megan explained she has always enjoyed being outdoors and that being part of the guide community has improved her confidence, allowing her to make new friends and improving her knowledge on basic survival skills.
“Being a guide has been extremely rewarding and fun. I have met so many people along my journey and plan to work towards my leader’s qualification this summer. I am really looking forward to the opportunities that have been available to me. Being a guide has allowed me to learn new skills and visit many new and exciting places.”
Megan is now planning to fundraise for her overseas trip and is looking forward to the year ahead.
