Pembrokeshire College have launched a new Digital Ambassador project, funded by the Welsh Government through ColegauCymru. As the first College in Wales to pilot the project, four learners have been elected to promote the ‘e-badges’ scheme which will reward students for their Welsh language skills.
Pembrokeshire College’s Bilingual Champion, Lisa O’Connor was delighted to be involved in the project, “We’re thrilled to be the leading College on this exciting and innovative scheme. Our learners will be rewarded for demonstrating a range of Welsh language skills, from a simple greeting from a customer service skills level to being able to complete schemes of work in Welsh – their full range of language skills and abilities will be recognised.”
A-level student, Rachel Thomas is one of the four elected Digital Ambassadors who’s first task is to promote the scheme to her peers, “I’m pleased to be able to promote this innovative project as I enjoy new technology and have the opportunity to use my Welsh language skills.”
Pembrokeshire College’s e-badges will record the Welsh language achievements of its’ students electronically, replacing paper certificates. It is hoped that once the project is rolled-out to other Colleges across Wales, e-badges will be recognised on CV’s and application forms for employment or further study.
Level 3 Engineering student, Amanda Howbrook-West will help steer the project with her peers at Pembrokeshire College and said that she’s looking forward to learning new skills and having new experiences.
Congratulations to Rachel, Amanda and fellow Digital Ambassadors, Level 2 IT student, Liam Murphy and A-level student, Finley Watson who were also elected to promote this exciting new e-badges scheme. Watch this space to see how they get on!
