Pembrokeshire College Online is a new way of learning IGCSE English Literature with Pembrokeshire College.

You will have access to 60 x 1 hour IGCSE English Literature lessons delivered live by your course teacher (1 per week during term time throughout the course). All of these live sessions are also recorded to allow you to access any of your previous lessons whenever you want to…which is very useful for revising!

Pembrokeshire College Online also includes revision and exam preparation sessions towards the end of the course to prepare you for your exams.

    • Develop skills to maintain a critical style and informed personal response.
    • Develop comparison skills
  • Modern Drama and Literary Heritage Texts
    • One modern drama text from the list of set texts
    • One literary heritage text from the list of set texts
    • Develop skills to analyse how language, form, structure and contextual factors can be used to create meaning and effect.
    • Develop skills to maintain a critical style and informed personal response.

As part of your IGCSE English Literature course you will be required to complete regular homework assessments.

While your homework does not count towards your final grade, it is used to monitor your progress, ability, and to enable your teacher to support your learning and ensure you are prepared for the exams.

All homewok assignments have been designed to prepare you for your examinations, and questions are based on examination style questions.

Your homework assignments have been designed to match a specific Pembrokeshire College Online live session, so it is easy to go back and revisit the relevant lesson if you get stuck.

The most important part of your IGCSE English Literature course (apart from you) is your dedicated teacher.

All our teachers have extensive academic experience and have taught in the classroom as well as online.

You will be assigned a course teacher when you enrol on your course who will support you for the duration of your studies.

Examinations

Paper 1: Poetry and Modern Prose – 4ET1/01

  • Section A – Unseen Poetry: one 20-mark essay question exploring the meaning and effects created in an unseen poem. The poem will be reproduced in the question paper.
  • Section B – Anthology Poetry: one 30-mark essay question from a choice of two, comparing two poems from Part 3 of the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE English Anthology.
  • Section C – Modern Prose: one 40-mark essay question from a choice of two on each of the set texts.

90 marks
2 hours – written paper (closed book)
students will be provided with the anthology poems in the examination
60% of of English Literature IGCSE

Paper 2: Modern Drama and Literary Heritage Texts – 4ET1/02

  • Section A – Modern Drama: one 30-mark essay question from a choice of two on each of the set texts.
  • Section B – Literary Heritage Texts: one 30-mark essay question from a choice of two on each of the set texts.

90 marks
1 hour 30 minutes – written paper (open book)
40% of of English Literature IGCSE
