Is this course right for me?

This one year course is designed to take the student from the initial concept of computerised drawing in two dimensions (2D) to more complex detailed drawings using many of the higher level functions of AutoCAD software, which would enable the learner to produce detailed drawings of a professional standard.

This 30 week (one year) course normally runs on a Monday, 18:00 – 20:00, starting in September.

  • No formal entry requirements
  • You should have some basic computer skills including being able to save and locate files and access websites

The course will cover how to:

  • use a CAD station safely
  • use key components in 2D CAD software
  • create lines and shapes relative to a co-ordinate system
  • understand how computer-assisted drawing works
  • familiarize yourself with the interface
  • adapt AutoCAD to your needs according to the most
    appropriate unit
  • manipulate the drawing and drawing aid tools
  • organize your documents by managing the layers
  • annotate and dimension your objects
  • integrate external elements in your documents
  • export PDF files
  • export to a plotter
