The course aims to provide candidates with the understanding of the theory and legislation associated with abrasive wheels and will give an overview of their safe use.
Emergency First Aid
By the end of the course the delegate will be able to:
- Understand the role of the first aider, including reference to the use of first aid equipment provided or improvised and the need to record accurately incidents and actions
- Recognize the importance of basic hygiene in first aid procedures
Assess situations and conditions in order to react safely, swiftly and effectively in an emergency - Demonstrate the ability to administer first aid safely, swiftly and effectively to a person who is unconscious
- Demonstrate the ability to administer C.P.R (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) safely, swiftly and effectively
- Display the skill necessary to administer first aid safely, swiftly and effectively to a person who has sustained a wound
- Display the skill necessary to identify a person who is in shock and react safely, swiftly and effectively to treat the condition
- Administer first aid safely, swiftly and effectively to a person who is choking
- Provide first aid safely, swiftly and effectively for minor injuries

- The principles of first aid

- Communicating with the casualty
- Minor conditions including grazes
- Bruises, minor cuts and burns
- Content of the first aid kit
- Reporting, recording the consequences of the incident
- The unconscious casualty
- C.P.R – Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
- Choking
- Blood loss and shock
Course Assessment:
Scenario based assessment with verbal questioning by the assessor
Progression
Candidates can progress to the full 3 day CIEH First Aid at Work course
Candidates must be aware of the physical constraints necessary to perform the skills required to:
- Preserve life
- Prevent a situation from worsening
- Promote recovery
