A-level English Literature involves the detailed study of plays, novels and poetry across a range of genres and eras. The course encourages you to develop your interest and enjoyment in literary studies through reading widely, independently and critically, as well as introducing you to the traditions of English Literature.
During the course you will develop the skills needed to be able to critique your own work as well as that of others. You will discover the importance of interpretation alongside developing an understanding of the importance of cultural influences.
This subject is acknowledged and respected by employers and universities alike. It combines well with a huge range of other advanced level studies as it develops empathy, creativity, communication, debate and individual thought. It is also a forum for exchanging ideas.
It may be possible to study this subject on a part-time basis.
