The City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Facilities Services is a competence based qualification designed to reflect the work of Facilities staff across a wide range of industries and types of organisations. This qualification covers the intermediate practical skills and knowledge required to work in facilities roles within the facilities industry either in a cleaning, ground maintenance or site maintenance role. In the Level 2 Certificate learners can choose from a bank of optional units which
show their ability to maintain security, reduce risks in the workplace and contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of the premises along with developing customer relationships. Achievement at level 2 reflects the ability to select and use relevant knowledge, ideas, skills and procedures to complete well defined tasks and address straight forward problems. It includes taking responsibility for completing tasks and procedures and exercising autonomy and judgement subject to overall direction or guidance.

COURSE CONTENT:
You will take the following mandatory units:
- Reduce risks to health and safety in the workplace
- Promote and maintain service delivery
- Contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of premises and facilities
- Develop customer relationships
And then select from the following optional units, depending on your job role within facilities
services:
- Support the work of a team and develop yourself
- Control the use of resources in a property, care taking and facilities services environment
- Maintain grounds of premises and facilities
- Maintain site security and safety
- Control the use of premises and facilities
- Work safely at heights
- Monitor and maintain electrical and plumbing services
- Carry out maintenance and minor repairs
- Deal with routine waste
- Deal with non-routine waste
- Deep clean equipment in premises and facilities
- Handle mail
- Support the co-ordination of an event
- Moving and transporting individuals within a healthcare environment
- Provide reception services
- Clean and maintain internal surfaces and areas
COURSE ASSESSMENT / EXAMINATION:
“Vocational” means that the work that you do to achieve this qualification is mainly about practical skills and real work activities. Work based observations, witness testimonies, work products, questioning, and discussion submitted in the learner’s portfolio. Your allocated assessor will visit you in the work place to assess your skills on a monthly basis.
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification but learners will need to be working or volunteering in a role that allows them to collect evidence that satisfies the requirements of the qualification.
