The Food & Drink industry encompasses some of the largest companies in the world, producing much of the products we consume on a daily basis. Food & Drink industries who process or produce meat, fish, fruit, potatoes, milk, coffee, and everything in between are supported by highly skilled engineers to keep them going. Beyond the creation of products, new processes and machinery have to be developed and maintained as well as being controlled.
This is a hybrid course combining both vocational and academic study. Completed over three years you will study the City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Food and Drink Engineering Maintenance (1255-01). This is an intensive course that will prepare you for the challenges of working in engineering maintenance food and drink environment.
This qualification has been developed in response to local and national employer demand. The qualification will be followed as a shared apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to be placed with local food and drink employers to gather evidence and learn on the job the skills you will need for a career in the Food and Drink engineering maintenance sector. This qualification will allow you to progress to university to study an engineering related discipline such as a BEng or BSc or to go onto an apprenticeship at advanced level leading to a higher apprenticeship in a supervisory capacity.
