If you are interested in a “hands on” career in the Construction Industry then this is the programme for you.
This new level 2 qualification is the entry point for all construction trades in Wales. Every construction learner in Wales wishing to embark on a full-time course in a construction trade will complete this qualification. The six core units are also part of every construction apprenticeship from September 2021, so if you progress to an apprenticeship after this, you will already have completed a substantial part of the required learning.
The course includes a wide range of content so learners get to know the whole construction industry, not just their own trade. You will also learn through a range of tasks within a ‘live’ workshop environment. These tasks will be supplemented with practical demonstrations which are designed to develop your awareness of the need for safe working practices, basic tool skills and accurate measurement. All of these skills are necessary to become a competent craftsperson.
NB. If you do not achieve the necessary entry requirements for the Level 2 Foundation Qualification, you may be offered a place on a Level 1 multi-skilled programme in either Carpentry and Bricklaying or Plumbing and Electrical subject to meeting entry requirements (see entry requirements)
Every learner must study two trade routes. Details of the options offered at Pembrokeshire College are set out under the Main Qualification section below.
