Over two years, students will study the new WJEC/City & Guilds Level 3 Health & Social Care: Principles and Context qualification, equivalent to 2 A-levels alongside Pearson BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Applied Biology (equivalent to one A-level). Students will also complete the new Level 2 Health & Social Care: Core qualification, a mandatory qualification for any learner who wishes to seek employment in the health care sector following completion of this programme, rather than progressing onto University/higher education.
Students will also have the opportunity to apply for the Destination NHS programme, a two year programme with the NHS and Swansea University; a blend of work experience, masterclasses and completion of an extended project qualification carrying UCAS points (this option is subject to separate application and interview with the NHS, details are shared with students upon enrolment onto the College programme).
This qualification is knowledge-based and for post-16 learners who want to develop a breadth and depth of knowledge related to the health and social care/science sector and progress onto University.
Please note: these qualifications will replace the current Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care (Health Science).
