This Level 3 Award in the Requirements for the Installation of Electric Vehicle Charging Points gives qualified and experienced electricians an understanding of the application of the IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation. It allows individuals working in the electrotechnical sector to develop their understanding of the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging points.
This course is designed for qualified and experienced electricians who are seeking to enhance their skills and knowledge to allow them to install domestic, commercial and “on street” vehicle charging points.
Candidates must have a full working knowledge of the UK earthing systems and be competent at calculating earth fault loop impedances and adiabatic equations. These competencies are required for the assessment, but are not taught as part of the course.
Practically, candidates must be able to install and terminate SWA cable and carry out an Initial Verification on an electrical installation and complete all of the associated paperwork.
