Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales (ASBW)
This course aims to enable learners to develop and demonstrate an understanding and proficiency in essential and employability skills. The emphasis is on applied and purposeful learning and to provide opportunities for assessment in a range of real-life context through three projects.
Is this course right for me?
The Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales is normally studied alongside at least 3 A-levels or an equivalent Level 3 qualification for example an Extended Diploma.
It is equivalent to one A-level and graded A* – E. All Welsh Universities will include this qualification in their offers. Most other universities also accept the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales. Even the most competitive courses such as Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science will accept it as an alternative to an A-level grade.

Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales
- Individual Project – conducting research and writing an academic dissertation or report up to 5,000 words (50%)
- Future Destinations Project – Exploring future destinations goals for life, employability, and citizenship in a sustainable world and Wales (25%)
- Global Community Project- Considering complex global issues and participating in local community action to promote citizenship in a sustainable world and Wales.( 25%)
The course will also support your development of a range of essential and employability skills including:
