Setting the standard

As the Skills Show gets underway, Pembrokeshire College students are hoping to lead the field in the beauty and complementary therapies competitions after securing all six medals in the aromatherapy and reflexology regional heats held at Bridgend College, as well as first and second place in beauty therapy and nail art.
The seven girls are looking for a repeat performance which could see them gain places on the UK Squad as they prepare for WorldSkills Leipzig 2013 or even WorldSkills Rio de Janeiro in 2015 (dependent on their age).
The seven competitors from the College are: Geraldean Swale (Aromatherapy), Amy Hewett (Beauty Therapy), Kirsty Bushen and Oksana Cooper (Nail Art) and Nicola Hughes, Esme Mott and Kathleen Thomas (Reflexology).
Judged on appearance, client skills, attention to detail, range of techniques and professionalism, the judges are looking for that all important ‘star quality’. The girls are hoping to outshine the competition once again to be crowned the best in their field.
Pembrokeshire College offers a range of Beauty and Complementary Therapy qualifications and is currently interviewing students who wish to start a course in September 2012. For further details on these courses, please contact Admissions on 0800 9 776 788.
