Starting up a business…but need to know how?
Pembrokeshire College recently launched a new accredited short course called Starting Your Own Business. This 10 week evening course is designed to equip budding and existing business owners with the knowledge and skills to develop their ideas. Rachael Hughes from St Florence, had already developed a tried and tested business idea, however, to grow her business she needed to attract a more corporate customer. The gap in her knowledge of how to target this group has now been fulfilled by the content of this new course.
“My business, which is called Absolute Event Bars, has been running for a while but without the necessary branding and strategy it needed to expand. However, I now feel equipped with the skills to move it forward. I have learnt many things in a short space of time, including how to market my product, licensing, registering my business and HMRC implications,” said Rachael.
“The first cohort of students have been exceptional, their business ideas have been realistic and in some cases they have targeted a real niche. The skills that they have developed will now help to elevate their confidence in their ideas,” said Amy Desborough, course tutor.
Lizzie May had been procrastinating about when and how to launch her photography business until now, “The course has given me the push I needed to get my business off the ground. I have learnt so much and feel confident and clear about how I’m going to run my business,” enthused Lizzie.
