We train, they succeed…

Pembrokeshire College has an exceptional team of catering professionals training young students to become tomorrow’s top chefs. Recent success includes a first from College student Tom Morgan, aged 16, from Aberporth, who walked away as the local winner of the Springboard FutureChef 2013 competition. The brief was to create and cook a two-course meal in 90 minutes with a limited budget of £7.00. “The students competing today have been exceptional, I can honestly say that they are some of the best young Chefs that I seen in Wales,” Neil Medhurst, Springboard Manager.
“The pressure was on, but I really enjoyed it! My main course was a Ravioli dish with a light chicken filling and a cream sauce, followed by a Lemon Cheesecake,” said Tom.
FutureChef helps young people aged 12-16 to learn to cook. It inspires them to explore food and cooking as a life skill by developing their culinary talent and informing them about entry routes into the hospitality industry. The local heat of the competition, which is endorsed by TV chef Brian Turner, was held at Pembrokeshire College. Harry Smallman from Tasker Milward School and Josh Proctor from Greenhill School also took part in the competition.
Tom will now represent Pembrokeshire in the regional heat at Coleg Morgannwg next month.
