Freshers’ Fair welcomes new students
New students were welcomed to Pembrokeshire College today with live music, sunshine and zombies!
Over 800 new students arrived at the College’s main campus in Haverfordwest to start their course today. For the new students, Freshers’ Fair was their opportunity to find out about the various opportunities and services available to them both within the College and in the local area as College support staff were joined by many external organisations including Friends of the Earth, YFC, Top Marks Driving School, Mid and West Wales Fire Service, Battlefield Live, Pembrokeshire County Council, Duke of Edinburgh and Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol.
The day was designed to give students an insight into life at the College and was the first of many student-centered events being planned for 2014/15
As part of the event students were encouraged to sign up to one of the College’s sports academies and climb a seven metre climbing wall. During the event there was also live music by Kyle Kirkhouse as well as a free BBQ.
Kathryn Robson, Director of Learner and Staff Services at the College, said: “The annual Freshers’ Fair is a great way to welcome new students to the campus and it was especially good this year to be joined by so many external organisations.
“It was amazing to see the atrium packed with new students all embarking on the next stage in their education and the Freshers Fair plays an important role in highlighting to students the full range of support services available to them during their time at the College.”
