IOSH Working Safely is a basic risk management Health and Safety certificate for employees delivered online. It enables people who work as part of a team to meet their responsibilities for health and safety in the workplace.

For those looking to venture into the realm of health and safety, the IOSH Working Safely course is an excellent first step. This course introduces participants to core health and safety topics relevant to any workplace, providing a solid foundation on which they can build further skills and knowledge. It’s a perfect blend of essential safety theories and practical approaches, designed to equip participants with the ability to contribute to a safe and healthy work environment.
The course is split into 2 units – one taught unit assessed by a ten question, multiple-choice assessment paper and a practical unit assessed by three hazard spotting exercises (15 mins).
At the end of the training participants will:
- Understand why they must work safely.
- Understand the difference between hazards and risks.
- Understand hazard identification.
- Appreciate and improve upon safety performance within the workplace.

Module 1 Introducing Working Safely
This unit will integrate learners on to the course by introducing the core principles of working safely.
Module 2 Defining Hazard and Risk
This module will focus on the understanding different hazards and risks It introduces learners to the most common risks in the workplace and how to group and define them.
Module 3 Identifying Common Hazards
This unit provides learners with the knowledge required to identify all workplace risks to help protect workplace safety. Unit M3 introduces learners to the philosophies to find and label any potential hazard in their workplace.
Module 4 Improving Safety Performance
This unit covers a comprehensive area in how to improve safety in your workplace.
Learners have the option to complete course assessment/assignments or elements of the course through the medium of Welsh or bilingually. Visit our Welsh Language in the College page to find out what else is available to you.
