Week 1: Introduction to Woodworking

  • Familiarise yourself with woodworking tools, their uses, and proper maintenance.
  • Learn essential safety practices for a secure and enjoyable woodworking experience.

Week 2-3: Basic Wood Joints and Frame Construction

  • Explore fundamental wood joints, including the half-lap, mortise and tenon, and bridle joints.
  • Master techniques for accurately measuring, marking, and cutting joints.
  • Construct simple frames to develop your skills in precision and assembly.

Week 4-6: Dive deeper into joinery with a focus on dovetail joints, a hallmark of fine craftsmanship

  • Learn to create dovetail joints through hands-on practice and step-by-step guidance.
  • Apply dovetail joints to build more intricate and aesthetically pleasing boxes.

Week 7-8: Wood Finishing and Enhancement Advanced Joinery Techniques

  • Discover different types of finishes and their applications, from staining to varnishing.
