Course overview
This course is designed to contribute towards the knowledge for the NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Construction comprising one core unit, and three additional optional/occupational units.
Entry requirements
- City & Guilds 2800 Level 2 Welding & Fabrication or equivalent course
- For mature applicants - Direct admissions to programmes for applicants who have been out of full time education for more than two years will be considered based on previous learning or experience. Each application will be considered on individual merit. We recommend an interview with one of our Careers Advisers before submitting your application.
- Entry is normally subject to interview
What you could do after this course
Successful students may progress to a Modern Apprenticeship in Fabrication and Welding, or alternatively students may enter into employment within the manufacturing/welding professions.

- Preparation, joining and erection of fabrication material
- Forming of thick plate sections
- Preparing and controlling the welding operation
- Welding with manual metal arc processes
